For small CNC job shops · AU · NZ · UK · US · Canada · Europe
Quote CNC jobs in minutes. Know which ones make money.
Spindlewise turns your machine rates, routings and real job hours into quotes you can explain line by line. Built for small machine shops that quote in a spreadsheet today, in millimetres or inches.
See it in 60 seconds
From a customer's STEP model to an accepted quote.
Measure the part, cost the routing, send the buyer a link, and see what the job really took.
What it does
A quote you can defend, and a record of how it went.
Spreadsheets hide their formulas and forget last month's job. Spindlewise keeps both in view.
Cost breakdown
Every price shows its cost
Material, setup, cycle time, labour, outsourcing, overhead and margin for every quantity break. No hidden multipliers.
Missing data
A blank is never zero
If a material price or machine rate is missing, the quote stops and names the field. It never prices a job on a guess you didn't make.
Mill & lathe
Cycle time you can check
Milling from removal volume and your metal removal rate. Turning from cutting speed, feed and passes. Or type in your own times.
Approval
Approve, freeze, send
An approved version is locked. The customer PDF shows prices and terms only, so your costs never leave the shop.
Roles
Costs for estimators only
Owners and estimators see costs. Sales staff see prices. Viewers can look but can't change anything.
Job actuals
Learn from finished jobs
Log actual machine and labour minutes on won jobs and see which operations ran over the estimate.
How it works
Four operations, same as a job traveller.
Set up your shop
Machines with their cost rates, your labour rate, overhead percentages and target return. About 20 minutes, once.
Build the quote
Part and revision, blank size and material, routing with setup and cycle times, outsourced finishes, and the quantities the buyer asked for.
Check and approve
Read the breakdown for each quantity, add a review note, approve to freeze the version, then send the PDF.
Close the loop
Mark the quote won or lost. On won jobs, log actual minutes per operation and compare them with the estimate.
Free tools
Four calculators shop owners ask for.
Free, no sign-up. Every input starts with an example value; replace it with your own. Blank inputs stop the calculation instead of counting as zero.
For machine shops in the US: the calculator opens in USD, with inches and pounds, starting from typical small-shop figures there: an operator at about US$40 an hour with on-costs, electricity at US$0.13 per kWh and floor space at US$10.22 per ft² a year. A small 3-axis mill usually works out somewhere near US$60 an hour before labour and margin, a CNC lathe near US$52. Replace every example with your own numbers.
Work out what one spindle hour costs you before labour and margin. The answer is the machine cost rate you would enter in Spindlewise; labour and overhead are added separately so nothing is counted twice.
Machine cost rate
Weight and cost of the blanks for a job, including saw kerf and the extra pieces you start to cover scrap. Bar shapes also tell you how many stock lengths to order.
Material for this job
Estimate cutting time for an outside diameter turned in roughing passes plus one finishing pass, with an optional face. Spindle speed is capped at your lathe's maximum, which matters on small diameters.
Cycle time per part
Price a simple job at several quantities: material, setup, cycle time, programming, outside processing, overhead and margin. See how much of the price at small quantities is really setup and programming.
Unit price
Pricing
One price per shop. Add your whole team.
Prices in Australian dollars. Tax is added at checkout where it applies.

Questions
What shop owners ask first.
Where is my data stored?
On servers in Singapore (Asia-Pacific). We plan to move to Australian servers as Spindlewise grows, and will tell you before we do. Your quotes, rates and customers are never shared with other shops, never used to match you with buyers, and never used to train third-party AI models.
Why does a quote sometimes refuse to calculate?
Because a missing number is never treated as zero. If a material has no price or a machine has no rate, Spindlewise tells you which field to fill in instead of quietly under-pricing the job.
Which processes can I quote?
Milling and turning have time templates. Any other operation, such as 5-axis, EDM, grinding or inspection, can be added with your own setup and cycle times. Outsourced work like anodising or heat treatment goes in at your supplier's price.
Can my sales person see our costs?
No. Owners, admins and estimators see costs. Sales staff see prices and can send approved quotes. Viewers can only read.
Does it replace my ERP or accounting software?
No. Spindlewise does the quote and learns from finished jobs. Export for ERP and accounting systems is planned for the Pro plan.
Can I do defence work in it?
Please don't. Do not upload drawings or data controlled under ITAR, the US Export Administration Regulations, Australia's Defence and Strategic Goods List, the UK Strategic Export Control Lists or the EU dual-use list.
What if I stop using it?
Cancel any month with no fee. Founding shops can ask for a full export of their data at any time.
Who is behind Spindlewise?
An independent mechanical engineer building the tool together with a small group of founding shops. You talk to the person who writes the code.
